Netflix is straightforward to use, but there are hidden features and settings worth exploring. One such feature is Netflix’s secret codes, a system that categorizes content using specific numbers. For instance, “Action & Adventure” is code 1365, with subcategories like “Hijacking movies” (20541), and “Spy action & adventure” (10702). There are over 36,000 codes. You can find some on sites like Netflix-Codes.com and What’s on Netflix, though none have the full list.
To use these codes, you’ll need to access Netflix via a desktop browser. Enter the code into the search bar or use the URL format: https://netflix.com/browse/genre/xx, replacing “xx” with your chosen code.
You can also search specific content types, like 4K or Netflix originals, directly in the app. Netflix blocks screenshots but allows you to save and share clips if you have an ad-free account. Select “Moments,” tap “Save,” and share the clip.
To stop autoplay previews, go to your account in a web browser, click “Manage Profiles,” select the profile, click “Playback Settings,” and uncheck “Autoplay previews.”
Using a computer, control playback with keyboard shortcuts. Press the S key to skip intros.
To manage watch history, go to “Viewing activity” in profile settings. Hide items by clicking the “no” symbol or use “Hide all” to conceal everything. You can also manage ratings here.
To secure your profile with a PIN, go to “Profile Lock” in profile settings, enter the account password, and set up a four-digit PIN.
