Michael Seibel has been pivotal to YC for over ten years. He has worn multiple hats: YC Founder (w07, w12), Group Partner, and Managing Director/CEO of the YC accelerator. In his journey, he’s supported countless founders, influenced how we interact with startups, and significantly contributed to YC’s expansion.
Michael is now moving to Partner Emeritus. This means he won’t be engaged in YC’s day-to-day activities or directly involved with batches, but he’ll remain an important figure in our community.

This transition allows Michael more freedom to pursue other interests while still being a valuable resource for YC founders, continuing to impart his insights and expertise.

Founders will still have access to Michael’s advice through office hours and various events.
Michael’s influence at YC has been profound. He’s played a key role in defining our program, culture, and values. Personally, I’ve gained immense knowledge from him—he is both a brilliant thinker and a passionate advocate for founders, exemplifying what it takes to succeed.
