Google Uses AI to Help You Find Cheap Flights

Google Flights is introducing an AI tool to help you find the best travel deals through a chatbox where you can specify your preferences. Named Flight Deals, it works similarly to a Google search box. You describe your travel plans, and it manages the rest.

The AI tool caters to those who find the current Google Flights search tools cumbersome, as it requires you to choose specific airports or dates. While Google Flights has been useful for finding great deals, it can be challenging for some users. The new Flight Deals aims to simplify the process, making it accessible to a broader audience. Once available, it could help you find affordable flights or even inspire trip ideas.

Flight Deals will also offer trip suggestions based on your location, even without a search query. You can use creative search terms, such as “cheap economy class flight from New York to LA in one month” or “week-long trip this winter to a city with great food, nonstop only” or “10 day ski trip to a world-class resort with fresh powder.”

Currently, Flight Deals is in beta in the U.S., Canada, and India. Access is not yet available to everyone, but Google expects the rollout to complete in about a week. Additionally, in the U.S. and Canada, there’s an option to exclude basic economy fares, beneficial for those with more luggage, as some basic economy fares exclude even a carry-on bag.
