Munich-based Tanso, an environmental management and compliance platform, has secured €12 million in Series A funding to expand its team internationally and develop additional modules for supply chain, compliance, and risk management. The investment round was led by henQ and Fortino Capital, with Capnamic and UVC Partners also participating.
Co-founder and CEO Till Wiechmann announced that the funding will help Tanso enhance its platform with new modules, implement new use cases for Tanso AI Copilot, grow its partner network in and beyond the DACH region, and establish itself as a European leader for industrial companies.
Founded in 2021 by Till Wiechmann, Gyri Reiersen, and Lorenz Hetzel, Tanso provides a cloud-based solution to automate environmental management and compliance. It assists manufacturing companies in meeting environmental standards throughout their supply chain and in reducing compliance expenses.
Tanso’s software, designed for carbon accounting and ESG data management, facilitates the collection, calculation, and optimization of sustainability metrics, powered by AI-driven data management and recommendations.
Increased pressures for environmental and compliance management necessitate active engagement and reporting, as required by EU legislation like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Major industries such as automotive, food, and chemicals demand their suppliers engage in sustainability and report on progress.
Tanso’s analytics software integrates with existing company systems, providing a centralized control for sustainability and compliance. This allows companies to plan and manage transformation projects efficiently and track progress.
Over 300 companies across more than 40 countries, including Kärcher, Duravit, the Paulaner Group, and Goldbeck, utilize Tanso’s software. Examples of successful implementations include:
– Crespel & Deiters, a wheat starch producer, reducing sustainability process costs by 75%.
– Böllhoff setting up data management for sustainability across 40+ countries.
– Pankl AG, a motorsport supplier, achieving full EU CSRD compliance.
– FEP, an automotive supplier, optimizing environmental KPIs at the product level, gaining a competitive edge in tenders.
