Deeptech wildlife intelligence company Flox has secured a Seed funding round of nearly $1 million. Originating from AI research at KTH in Stockholm, Flox seeks to enhance human-wildlife interactions using robotics and AI for safe, sustainable coexistence.
Flox has created Edge, an autonomous device using adaptive bioacoustics to communicate with wildlife in real time. These battery-powered units patrol remote areas and use AI to detect and steer wildlife away with species-specific sounds, without fences or downtime.
Connected to the Flox Wildlife Platform, it provides continuous protection for wildlife and infrastructure in agriculture, aquaculture, railways, and aviation. The 2025 production batches are fully booked, and partnerships include WWF, Alstom, Boliden Minerals, GRR Airport, and Swedish Transport Administration.
“Flox is the first company truly aiming to understand and communicate with wild animals, which will change everything,” said CEO and Co-founder Sara Nozkova. The funding, led by Unconventional Ventures with participation from Norrsken Accelerate and previous investors, supports Flox’s mission to address human-wildlife conflict through scalable tech solutions.
Nora Bavey of Unconventional Ventures stated, “With a bold vision and deep sector knowledge, the team is set to transform our coexistence with nature.”
After extensive research and trials, the Seed round will aid Flox’s commercialization and R&D, with a focus on US expansion. This involves venture capital, research grants, and revenues from commercial deployments, spurring Flox’s rapid growth and market entry.
This funding boosts Flox’s capacity to redefine coexistence, prioritizing airports, transportation, and industrial sites to ensure safety and operational continuity.
