Everything Announced at the Made by Google 2025 Event: Pixel 10, New Gemini Features, Pixel Watch, and More

The “Made by Google 2025” event has finally arrived, notably preceding Apple’s anticipated September hardware event.

On Wednesday, the tech giant unveiled the Pixel 10 series, a new foldable, the Pixel Watch 4, the second-generation affordable A-Series earbuds, and introduced generative AI capabilities with Gemini, among other announcements.

Get ready for a Gemini boost

Google had already delivered several AI-related updates at its developer conference in May, but showcased more Gemini features during the Pixel 10 event. In a promotional YouTube video for the new devices, Google even seemed to playfully critique Apple’s unfulfilled promises with Apple Intelligence on the iPhone.

Gemini Live has been upgraded, allowing interactive guidance through camera sharing. Users can, for instance, show their room to the AI and receive interior design suggestions.

The Pixel 10’s photography also improved with the “Camera Coach,” offering real-time guidance for better shots, suggesting optimal angles and lighting.

There’s also a new conversational photo editing tool where users can instruct Gemini to adjust photo aspects like brightness, object removal, or backgrounds.

Pixel 10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro XL

The standard Pixel 10 phone has significant updates, especially with a dedicated telephoto lens, previously exclusive to Pro models. Google released a Pixel 10 teaser before the event.

The new 5x telephoto lens offers superior zoom quality, and the 100x Pro Res Zoom enables high-quality closeups.

All phones are powered by the new Tensor G5 processor, launching the Gemini era with enhanced performance and efficiency over the Tensor G4 chip.

Aside from these updates, the design largely remains the same as the Pixel 9 series, with unchanged displays: 6.3-inch for Pixel 10 and 10 Pro, and 6.8-inch for Pixel 10 Pro XL.

The Pro models also boast improved camera and video quality, alongside larger batteries that allow faster charging, addressing longevity issues compared to Apple and Samsung flagships.

This marks the first Pixel launch in Mexico. However, the Pixel 10 Pro and LTE models of the Pixel Watch 4 won’t be available there.

PixelSnap

The Pixel 10 devices incorporate magnetic technology via PixelSnap, Google’s version of “MagSafe.” New magnetic accessories, including a $40 Pixelsnap charger supporting Qi2 wireless charging, a $50 magnetic phone case, and a $30 ring stand were also introduced.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold

Google’s latest foldable phone features a larger 6.4-inch cover display and an 8-inch main screen. The hinge is now stronger, and the bezels are slimmer for a sleeker look.

An IP68 rating is a first for this device, offering resistance to dust and water unlike the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The Pro Fold is equipped with the G5 chip and latest Gemini AI features, and the camera system may include a 48MP ultra-wide lens and 5x optical zoom telephoto lens. Battery life has also improved.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold costs $1,799 and is available in Moonstone and Jade.

Pixel Journal app

Google challenges Apple’s Journal app with the new Pixel Journal app for Pixel 10 devices. Users can write entries, add photos, locations, and activities, and lock entries for privacy. AI features such as prompt suggestions are included.

The Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds

Google also spotlighted wearables, with the Pixel Watch 4 featuring a bulkier design, longer battery life, smaller bezels, and AI abilities that include accessing Gemini by raising your wrist.

The Pixel Buds 2a offer active noise cancellation and new colors: Hazel and Iris. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 include a Gemini feature for gesture-based call answering, and come in Moonstone.

Fitbit gets an AI-powered health coach

Google introduced a new AI personal health coach for the Fitbit app.

Users can craft personalized workout routines by discussing goals, preferences, and equipment. The AI coach accordingly generates tailored fitness plans and makes real-time adjustments based on user data.

The trainer also offers sleep quality insights.

An AI coach preview will be available in October, integrated into the revamped Fitbit app, compatible with the latest Fitbit trackers, smartwatches, and Pixel Watches.

Gemini is coming to smart home devices

The company announced “Gemini for Home,” a new AI voice assistant replacing Google Assistant on smart home devices like Nest doorbells, cameras, speakers, thermostats, and more.

Gemini for Home retains the “Hey Google” activation but is touted as more powerful and user-friendly for handling complex tasks and multitasking home commands.

Gemini Live will also feature on home devices, allowing natural two-way conversations for idea brainstorming and personalized advice. Activation starts with, “Hey Google, let’s chat.”

Over time, Gemini for Home will replace Google Assistant on existing
