London-based deeptech company Computle has secured £500,000 in pre-seed funding from Mark Boost, known for Civo, ServerChoice, and Defense.com. The startup provides high-performance remote cloud workstations for creative, architectural, and engineering teams, bringing its total funding to £700k to aid international expansion.
Established in 2020, Computle offers subscription-based virtual workstations with performance akin to on-premise setups, targeting industries like architecture, engineering, construction, and visual effects by supporting compute-heavy tasks such as 3D rendering, CAD, and animation.
Investor Mark Boost stated, “Computle is tackling a real challenge with impressive ingenuity. They’re giving architects, VFX professionals, and engineers the power and speed they’ve been missing in the cloud.”
The company has supported a range of projects, from national infrastructure planning to major TV productions and award-winning architecture.
Jake Elsley, Computle’s founder and CEO, remarked, “Mark instantly recognised the future we’re building. His insight into scalable infrastructure will help us redefine how the AEC industry works and enable a new standard of boundaryless creativity.”
The funding arrives as industries that traditionally relied on high-end local machines increasingly adopt cloud-first workflows, driven by hybrid work, global collaboration, and rising infrastructure costs. While platforms like AWS and Azure dominate general cloud computing, vertical SaaS providers like Computle are finding niches with tailored, low-latency solutions for design and engineering professionals.
Despite the VC focus on generative AI and software-first startups in 2025, cloud-native hardware virtualisation continues to drive innovation in content creation, digital twins, and advanced simulations. Computle aims to expand its market presence, focusing on flexibility, performance, and simplicity to boost productivity for creative and engineering teams.
