Unmind in London Secures Over €30 Million to Expand Ethical AI for Workplace Mental Health

Unmind, a UK-based workplace mental health startup, has secured €30.6 million in Series C funding to enhance its AI-driven platform for supporting employee mental health. The funding round was led by TELUS Global Ventures, with ongoing support from Project A, Felix Capital, and Sapphire Ventures.

CEO and Co-founder Dr Nick Taylor stated, “AI, when applied with clinical precision, ethical considerations, and a human approach, represents a significant advancement in mental healthcare. We’re blending scientific knowledge with innovative technology to help millions improve their wellbeing.”

Established in 2016, Unmind offers a comprehensive platform for organizational wellbeing, integrating AI assistance, therapy, coaching, leadership training, and strategic consulting. Central to its technology is Nova, an AI mental health agent providing personalized support to employees worldwide.

Nova’s usage has increased by 92% over six months, with retention rates three times above the industry norm.

Nova plays a key role in Unmind’s strategy, offering stigma-free, constant assistance and connecting users to human support as needed.

A Nova user expressed appreciation, stating, “Nova provided genuine, caring advice and understanding. Thanks to Nova, I feel I can reach out for help and that my feelings are valid.”

The recent funding coincides with mental health becoming a priority at the executive level. WHO reports the loss of 12 billion workdays annually due to depression and anxiety, while McKinsey cites a €875 billion productivity loss related to mental health issues.

The investment will support global expansion, focusing on the U.S. Unmind has hired Laura Moniz de Aragao, formerly of BetterUp, as Chief Revenue Officer to lead the expansion and strengthen partnerships, including those with TELUS Health.

Unmind’s platform links employee mental health improvements with business success. Users report a 10–15% productivity increase after 4–7 therapy sessions, with potential ROI of €11k per employee annually for tools targeting sleep and low mood.

A recent case study with a multinational company highlighted a 16% stress reduction in high-stress employees, resulting in a €876k productivity boost and a 3.49x ROI.

Unmind emphasizes that its technology complements human care, aiming to support entire organizations ethically and clinically.
