Swedish venture capital firm Spintop Ventures is expanding into Denmark with a new base in Copenhagen and the appointment of Jasenko Hadzic as Principal. This move aligns with the firm’s strategy to enhance its presence across the Nordic region and support ambitious tech founders.
Hadzic previously worked at Nordic VC BackingMinds, focusing on SaaS, cybersecurity, and energy investments. He brings over a decade of experience in venture capital and startups, having co-founded a fast-scaling startup and created community initiatives like The Investor Series, CPHFTW, Angel Next, and the Nordic Startup Conference.
Sami Niemi, Partner at Spintop Ventures, stated that Hadzic is well-known in the Danish tech ecosystem and his experience will add value to the team and portfolio companies. Hadzic will be based in Copenhagen, collaborating with Senior Advisor Mads Mikkelsen, to engage with Denmark’s vibrant startup scene.
Hadzic expressed enthusiasm for joining Spintop Ventures, highlighting the firm’s founder mentality and hands-on support approach. He noted that each team member brings firsthand startup experience, which sets Spintop apart as a partner for leading teams in the region.
Denmark’s startup ecosystem has grown considerably, driven by public-private partnerships and global interest in Copenhagen as a tech hub. In 2023, Danish startups raised over €1.2 billion, despite European funding challenges. Spintop’s focus on Denmark reflects a broader interest among Nordic funds in strengthening national ties within the region, with Denmark becoming a key market for sectors like climate tech, SaaS, and digital health.
Spintop Ventures has raised four funds so far, with successful exits including acquisitions by Cisco, Klarna, Zynga, Bentley Systems, and Synopsys, as well as several public listings.
